Winter and Mercedes-Benz Electric Vehicles: Tips and Information

Over the last few years, Mercedes-Benz has taken the electric turn, and hasn't done it by halves. While some automakers are more timid, Mercedes-Benz has not hesitated to land quickly with a range that includes nothing less than six attractive models to meet the needs of different consumers. As many of you prepare to face your first winter behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle, take note of the following tips and information, which may come in handy over the coming months.

A diversified range

Mercedes-Benz's all-electric range comprises six models. The entry-level model is the EQB. This is a small SUV with room for up to seven occupants. Compact on the outside, it's spacious on the inside. Thanks to a 70.5 kWh battery, it can cover 394 kilometers on a single charge. In its EQB 250 + version, it's the only vehicle in the brand to benefit from government credits totalling $12,000 for the purchase of an electric vehicle. In winter, it's well known that a vehicle's range is reduced by the cold. Mercedes-Benz offers MB navigation on board its electric vehicles. Using artificial intelligence, this system aims to optimize your routes.

The Mercedes-Benz electric catalog also includes the EQE sedan and EQE SUV duo. The sedan's 90.6 kWh battery capacity gives it a range of 418 kilometers. The SUV, meanwhile, is equipped with an 89 kWh battery and promises a range of 407 kilometers. To optimize your electric vehicle's winter range, Mercedes-Benz suggests that you activate cabin preheating before setting off. In other words, while the vehicle is still plugged in in your garage, it's advisable to activate cabin preheating to avoid losing range when you leave.

Moving up in size and luxury, we find the EQS sedan and EQS SUV duo. Their battery capacity is the same: 107.8 kWh. Range is 459 kilometers for the SUV and 547 kilometers for the sedan. The difference can be explained by the fact that the car is more aerodynamic. Both vehicles are equipped with Airmatic technology. This air-suspension system adjusts to road conditions and battery charge levels.

An even more sumptuous version is also available. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV represents the pinnacle of luxury from the German manufacturer.

Owners of Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles will be delighted to learn that they can download the Mercedes Me Connect application to their smartphone. In this way, they can remotely check the charging status of their electric vehicle. A practical tool in summer and winter alike.

Princely comfort even in winter!

We all know that the cold can be a major irritant in winter. But there's no reason why you shouldn't enjoy princely comfort aboard your Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle. For example, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV offers a series of options and features designed to increase comfort levels in winter. These include five-zone climate control, allowing occupants to choose the temperature they prefer for their section of the vehicle. In addition to seats with massage function, Mercedes-Benz offers optimized heated seats as an option. In fact, if you opt for third-row seats, please note that they can be heated. Finally, to avoid having to defrost your vehicle's windshield, the German manufacturer can equip your vehicle with an electrically heated windshield.

Special 4Matic system for electric vehicles

Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles can be equipped with the German manufacturer's famous 4Matic system. Naturally, this system operates differently from the one found on the brand's gasoline-powered vehicles. In the case of electric vehicles, electrified all-wheel drive can adapt up to 10,000 times per minute. So when an icy or snow-covered surface is detected, the system adapts almost instantaneously to optimize traction and vehicle behavior.

Of course, it's also advisable not to skimp on the choice of winter tires. In fact, some manufacturers have designed tires specifically for electric vehicles. This type of tire aims to achieve the perfect balance between the best possible traction and the lowest possible resistance, so as not to affect range too much.

If you're about to face your first winter behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle, you need have no fear. Combined, these tips simplify the day-to-day driving of an electric vehicle, increase comfort for occupants and reduce the stress and anxiety associated with autonomy.
