Discover the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC and Its AMG Trims

A compact luxury SUV, the Mercedes-Benz GLC offers a variety of configuration options to suit consumer tastes, including high-performance AMG trims and a Coupé model.

Check out the engines on the menu and see what these vehicles have to unveil in terms of design, technology and luxury.

GLC and AMG: three turbocharged engines

The entry-level model is the Mercedes GLC 300 with its 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. It develops 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission with a drive mode selector and has a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs.

Mid-range we find the Mercedes-Benz AMG lineup with two more engines, twin-turbo this time, either with the AMG 43 or AMG 63 S. The first is a 3.0L V6 good for 385 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque, while the second is a 4.0L V8 that packs a punch with 503 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. It can rush from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds!

The AMG engines are also paired with a 9-speed transmission, but it is rather the SPEEDSHIFT TCT transmission, which is even more responsive and allows you to control the torque with paddles.

Of course, 4MATIC all-wheel drive is standard for performance and control in all road situations, and a Performance version comes standard on Mercedes AMG SUVs.

Sporty styling across the line

The Mercedes-Benz GLC is a compact SUV with sporty, athletic styling, bright LED headlights and a vertical bar or studded grille. Drivers can now upgrade to a coupé model for an even sportier appearance. Highly customizable, it features up to 12 colour choices.

The AMG body has even more muscular lines and offers four styles of 20 or 21-inch wheels. The GLC is available with an AMG body with either the Sport Package or the Night Package, which adds high-gloss black accents.

Advanced technologies with MBUX

The MBUX, or Mercedes-Benz User Experience, is known for its intuitiveness. With its 7- or 10.25-inch screen, it adds a host of standard and optional features:

  • Bluetooth hands-free device
  • LINGUATRONIC voice control that recognizes natural language
  • Navigation system with 3D maps
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • In-car Wi-Fi network
  • And more!

Safety features are just as plentiful, with a full integrated standard package. And it’s not just about quantity, because Mercedes-Benz is above all focusing on the quality of its technologies. According to Benoit Charette, a journalist for the L’Annuel de l’automobile:

“Adaptive cruise control, for example, maintains a safe following distance
and, unlike its competitors, it doesn’t crash-brake your vehicle
when someone cuts you off.”

Mercedes-Benz, luxurious interior

The quality of the interior is a momentous detail when selecting a luxury car. The Mercedes GLC 300 includes 14-way power-adjustable heated front seats with position memory and offers several options, including:

  • 3-stage heated and ventilated front seats
  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated rear seats
  • 64-colour LED ambient lighting

This last feature is standard on AMG models, which also have sporty front seats. These seats feature red contrast stitching, which is also found on the doors and centre console.

They also include micro-suede inserts and soft Artico cushions for comfort. Thanks to the Air Body Control suspension, the cargo area can even be lowered for easier loading with the AMG.
