What is the new Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicle lineup?

The popularity of electric vehicles has soared in recent years and automakers are introducing new fully electric models at an unprecedented rate. Luxury automakers are also getting into the game with Mercedes-Benz leading the way with its new lineup of Mercedes-Benz EQ fully electric sedans and sport utility vehicles. Mercedes-Benz was one of the first luxury automakers to announce its electrification strategy and we saw the first of the Mercedes-Benz EQ lineup over three years ago when the automaker showed the new EQC for the first time.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC isn't on the market yet, but Mercedes-Benz does offer three fully-electric vehicles in its Mercedes-Benz EQ lineup right now. The lineup will be expanding next year with the introduction of the new EQE sedan and EQE SUV. Here is everything you want to know about the Mercedes-Benz EQ fully electric vehicle lineup.

Characteristics of the Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicle lineup

With three models on the market right now and two other electric models confirmed next year, the Mercedes-Benz EQ lineup offers a variety of different vehicle types to meet different needs. That said, Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicles share common characteristics. These include an advanced electric architecture, all-wheel drive, and impressive range.

Advanced electric architecture

The battery size in Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicles varies from one model to the other, but they all share an advanced electric architecture which allows charging at up to 200 kW. To put in perspective, the more kilowatts you have, the quicker your vehicle can charge. In Quebec we currently offer charging stations that vary from 50 kW to 150 kW with a few 350 kW chargers as well.

When we say that Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicles can charge at 200 kW, that means that not only can they charge at the maximum possible speed on a 150 kW charger, but it also means that they charge faster regardless of the output of the charging station. If you want an electric vehicle the charges quickly, you want the kind of electric architecture that you find in Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicles.

All-wheel drive in every model

Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicles all offer all-wheel drive. That's because they each have both a front and rear electric motor with each motor powering the front axle and rear axle respectively. In other words, both your front wheels and your real wheels are always turning and getting power which means you have an all-wheel drive system that powers you through the most difficult weather. If you are concerned that an electric vehicle isn't safe or stable in winter, think again. Mercedes-Benz EQ vehicles feature the same all-wheel drive capability as traditional combustion engine Mercedes-Benz models.

Impressive all-electric range

Range is one of the most important criteria for electric vehicle buyers and the Mercedes-Benz EQ lineup delivers in that regard. Below you will find the range numbers for the entire Mercedes-Benz EQ currently on sale.

  • Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 – 365 kilometres
  • Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV – 459 kilometres
  • Mercedes-Benz EQS – 563 kilometres
