The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe: Pleasure Guaranteed!

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe: Pleasure Guaranteed!

The new Mercedes-Benz GLE 53 Coupe combines the sportiness and elegance of a coupe with the advanced technology of the new Mercedes-Benz high-performance SUV series.

The 2021 GLE 53 Coupe is yet another example of Mercedes-Benz’s ambition to meet all the needs of customers in the high-performance SUV segment in a targeted manner. It’s as if the Germans never stop to amaze!

Still a rather small niche segment in the past, the coupe SUV segment has quickly become a “Trend within the Trend”, or if you prefer “Trend im Trend”. For the renewal of the high-performance SUV family, Mercedes-Benz is also redesigning the GLE 53 Coupe on a new technical basis.

Mercedes-Benz Blainville on the North Shore of Montreal, near Terrebonne, Laval, Boisbriand and Saint-Jérôme, tells us a little more about the new 2021 GLE 53 Coupe.

SUV or CUV?

Wouldn’t it be fair to say that the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 Coupe is more of a coupe utility vehicle (CUV), as its name suggests, rather than a simple SUV? The CUV name is not a recognized term in Quebec and Canada, but if you take a closer look at this luxury mid-size SUV, you’ll see that the acronym CUV is a perfect fit.

“The GLE Coupe combines the imposing character of an off-road vehicle with the sporty, elegant and exciting thrill of a coupe”, explains Gorden Wagener, chief designer at Daimler AG. “The sleek, sensual design and massive proportions create a unique style with a strong personality”.

This describes pretty accurately the 2021 new Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 Coupe, since it looks like an SUV, but it is rather a very luxurious and imposing CUV.

Under the hood is a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, turbocharged engine that produces 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque and will be both powerful and capable on the roads of Quebec and Canada.

The new 2021 GLE Coupe also boasts generous dimensions: 4,939 mm long and 2,010 mm wide (39 mm and 7 mm longer than the previous model, respectively). The model’s proportions underline its dynamic character, and seen from the front, the vehicle combines unmistakable coupe attributes with features from the Mercedes-Benz High Performance family.

The diamond grille, with its unique horizontal blade, is reminiscent of the other coupes in the Mercedes-Benz range already on the market. In the AMG Line finish, the front grille widens at the bottom in a distinctive “A” shape, and the diamond grille disc is chrome plated. The headlights are fully LED and give the vehicle a very distinctive appearance.

Inside the vehicle, the modern driver’s station with its two large 12.3-inch screens is immediately noticeable. The dashboard is strikingly shaped and has a unique horizontal design. The 2021 GLE 53 is equipped with a state-of-the-art infotainment system, including the Mercedes-Benz User Experience system (MBUX).

The interior of the 2021 GLE 53 Coupe features Artico trim on the upper part. A number of other sporty features have been added as standard, including sports seats with very good side support in Artico trim and a new sports steering wheel in Nappa leather.

This new CUV’s character is enhanced by its centre console, where support handles dominate the overall view into the cabin. Exclusive features of the coupe also include Nappa leather seat trim and two-tone door panels.

All in all, the AMG badge on the 2021 GLE 53 is a sign of enhancement and performance, but also of elegance and refinement. This luxury utility vehicle is already turning heads in the showroom.
