Luxury All the Way With the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE

A mid-size SUV now available as a coupe, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE includes several luxurious models that will appeal to the whole family, between a distinctive exterior design and a spacious interior.

Learn about the engines from one model to the next, the design of the new coupe, its advanced technologies and the luxury that awaits you inside.

Three Engine Choices

For 2022, there are three different engines, whether you choose the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350, the GLE 450 or the capable AMG. The 350’s engine is a 2.0 L turbocharged 4-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.

The 450 adds a little more power with its 3.0 L 6-cylinder engine good for 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, plus the addition of a small electric motor. The AMG 53 engine also features mild hybridization and propels you with a cavalry of 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque.

Here are the technical details:

On all models, the engine is mated to the 9 G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and paddle shifters when you want to take control.

Of course, the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system is included as standard for optimum grip in all conditions. With an AMG model, this system can send 0 to 100% torque to the rear wheels. Even more, you can choose from seven driving modes, including Slippery, Sport +, Track and Sand.

A New GLE Coupe

The Coupe is in fashion, and just because you choose a mid-size SUV doesn’t mean you have to do without it! While this option was available with the AMGs, it is now a new feature available on the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450.

With its roofline, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe adds a sporty touch to the overall package, a sportiness enhanced by an AMG visual package. Chrome details, a diamond block grille and widened fenders are just a few of the details that make it stand out.

The SUV continues to sport a muscular and distinctive look with standard features such as:

  • A rear spoiler
  • 20-inch 5-spoke wheels
  • Full LED lighting
  • Bright trim and inserts
  • Roof rails

With the AMG, you’ll make a statement with a vertical bar grille and 21-inch wheels as standard.

Advanced technologies with MBUX

Technology enthusiast,
you’ll be on the edge of your seat in the GLE
”,
confirms Benoit Charette in the L’Annuel de L’automobile 2022.

Indeed, the MBUX user experience, “which has become the gold standard,” is designed for interactive use. Natural language recognition allows you to make requests to your Mercedes car with ease.

The instrumentation and touchscreen infotainment system are connected as a single unit, and both are 12.3-inch screens. At your fingertips, you can also operate the controls on your steering wheel or on a touchpad located on the console. Standard technologies also include:

  • A navigation system with 3D maps
  • Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto®
  • On-board Wi-Fi
  • Five USB ports
  • HD radio receiver
  • And much more

As an option, you can get an interior assistant or enjoy a Burmester surround sound system with 13 or even 25 speakers!

Luxury for 5 to 7 Passengers!

The GLE’s interior offers luxury all the way, with wood and metallic-trim elements, heated power seats, optional Nappa leather upholstery and more.

Got a big family? The mid-size SUV allows you to add a third row to accommodate up to seven passengers. As an option, everyone can enjoy the natural light with a panoramic sunroof or adjust the temperature in four zones according to their comfort!
