Differences Between the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC and the Current Model

The secret is out. Mercedes-Benz recently introduced the next-generation 2023 GLC SUV. Although information is still trickling out, we know enough to give you an idea of how it compares to the current 2022 model. Let's explore so you can choose the model year that is best for you.

Exterior differences between the 2022 and 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC

The 2023 GLC features a few noticeable exterior changes. The redesigned front end features headlamps that are integrated with the new radiator grille. Buyers can also opt for the new digital headlights.

The 2023 is also 60 mm longer with a corresponding increase in the wheelbase and track measurements. Both the 2022 and 2023 models are very aerodynamic, but the 2023 is tweaked to decrease the drag coefficient from 0.31 to 0.29. This works with the new powertrain electrification and contributes to efficiency.

Powertrain differences between the 2022 and 2023 GLC models

Expect the 2023 GLC to include a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine at its core, which is also in the 2022. The primary output of 255 horsepower remains the same, but the torque increases thanks to the addition of a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Mercedes-Benz does not change the outstanding all-wheel drive system and nine-speed transmission for 2023.

The 300 will be the sole 2023 GLC model offered in the Canadian marketplace. Information about the next-generation AMG models and other efficiency-focused variants will come at a later date.

The 2023 GLC adds new tech. DSR (downhill speed regulation) that helps control vehicle speed on steep, downward slopes. This is complemented with a 'transparent hood' camera that displays the areas immediately in front of the vehicle and under the front wheels. The entire camera system is also upgraded with an improved 360-degree view.

Mercedes-Benz also delivers a new navigation system with a towing function to the 2023 GLC. It helps you navigate away from obstacles that don't allow the height of your trailer. The interior also gets significant changes. It has been beautifully redesigned, and now includes a portrait-style 11.9-inch touchscreen and a modern 12.3-inch digital information display. The cargo space also gets a bump from 550 L to 600 L. A power liftgate comes standard.
