2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE: still the benchmark

Competition is strong within many automotive segments, including the coveted mid-size luxury SUV segment. There are some players in a heated battle within the latter, including the Mercedes-Benz GLE, which returns once again upgraded for 2023.

In truth, it's hard to find fault with this model as it caters to an incredible variety of customers.

Here are a few things that prove once again why this model is a reference in its segment.

Edition 55

The big news this year is the arrival of a special limited version, the Edition 55. This marks 55 years of the performance-oriented AMG division. The model will be based on the AMG 53 version and its 3-liter twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, which offers 429 horsepower. The variant will be recognizable by its unique exterior and interior accents.

Available with both body styles, the Edition 55 will feature 22-inch forged wheels with "Edition 55" logo centers, unique rocker panel decals, as well as the AMG Night option package that emphasizes black. Black chrome exhaust tips, as well as a rather dark tinted glass behind the B-pillar complete the look.

On board, black leather upholstery will be present with red accents. The driver will grab an AMG Performance steering wheel decorated with an "Edition 55" logo. Two-tone carpeting and illuminated door sill plates will also mark the presentation.

Update

For 2023, the GLE gets a few small changes, but we're mostly talking about cosmetic changes. Reworked bumpers, redesigned headlights and lights ensure that the model continues to refine itself to present an up-to-date look. Behind the wheel, the pleasure of driving will remain the same, which is to say very present. The same goes for comfort. Soundproofing, road feel, the MBUX multimedia system (Mercedes-Benz User Experience), seat comfort, interior space, cargo volume, are all elements that will be found with pleasure in the 2023 version.
