2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA Completely Redesigned

In 2014, when the Mercedes-Benz GLA made its first appearance in the compact high-end SUV segment, it was among the first to offer such refinement and performance. For 2021, the German automaker’s premium SUV offers even more space, luxury and refinement, as if German ingenuity never stops.

Mercedes-Benz Blainville, near Saint-Jérôme, Terrebonne, Sainte-Thérèse, Laval and just minutes from Montreal, knows how to make things simple and tasty, and presents its hyper-friendly SUV, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA.

Confident and Dynamic!

The 2021 new GLA comes with four-cylinder engines, up-to-date driver assistance systems with driver cooperation, an intuitive MBUX infotainment system and a comprehensive Energizing comfort control system.

The 2021 GLA is now larger (10 cm higher than its predecessor) with short overhangs at the front and rear. The lines of the front end converge seamlessly through the front pillar to the compact yet highly functional cabin. Sketchy dents on the hood also add style and relief to the vehicle, and it doesn’t go unnoticed.

The clear silhouette, with its reduced lines and enhanced surfaces, gives this luxury SUV a sporty and modern look. In 2021, the GLA is also distinguished by the powerful shoulders of its body and the coupe-like lines of its side windows. The highly sculptural side graphics exude dynamic elegance and offer an interesting play of light.

The front grille is perforated as in other Mercedes-Benz SUVs and features a slat and a central star, giving it a great deal of prestige. Typical of the brand, the interior of the headlamps offers a high-end, meticulous, precise and applied finish.

Under the hood, two versions will be on the menu, the GLA 250 4MATIC and GLA 35 4MATIC. Each model is now powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine combined with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and, of course, all-wheel drive. Power for the GLA 250 is rated at 221 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. As for the GLA 35, it spits out 302 horsepower and 296 lb-ft of torque. 4MATIC all-wheel drive is standard across the lineup.

Inside, you’ll quickly notice a dashboard composed of a unique base volume carefully divided into driver and front passenger compartments. The space on the driver’s side is taken up by the stand-alone screen unit, which is available in two versions: with a 7-inch (17.78 cm) screen plus a 10.25-inch (26 cm) screen or with a widescreen variant featuring two 10.25-inch screens. On the front passenger side, decorative elements take their place; luxury and refinement are distinctive features of the 2021 GLA.

Even more spectacular are the five round ventilation flaps with a high-end turbine-like design and finely shaped blades. The armrest is seamlessly integrated into the central part of the storm doors. The power-assisted closing handle consists of a tubular profile and is arranged horizontally like a roof bar, all with detail and precision.

And it goes even further: the vehicle is equipped with the intuitive MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system as standard. It features a powerful processor, high-quality displays and graphics, a customizable display, a full-colour head-up display, an augmented reality navigation system, learnable software, and a voice-activated command system with the keyword “Hey Mercedes” that makes you feel like you’re in another world in your luxury compact SUV, the 2021 GLA.
